Eastleigh to host Hampshire Sports Club Conference
The Council is investing in local clubs by holding a new Sports Club Conference in the Borough this autumn; inviting clubs and sports providers countywide to attend.
The Council’s Health & Wellbeing team have created the event to support sustainability and inclusivity in local sports and physical activity organisations during challenging times.
The new Hampshire Sports Club Conference will take place at the Holiday Inn, Eastleigh, Wednesday 22 November, 6pm to 9.30pm, with guest speaker to be announced soon. Delegate places are available for £10 each and bookings open Friday 13 October from 10am.
UPDATE:
We can now announce our amazing local guest speaker for the event - gold medal winning Paralympian Aaron Phipps MBE. He has scaled Kilimanjaro on his hands and knees for charity and has been voted in the top 100 most influential people in the UK with a disability.
Two workshops are being led by the team at Solent University Southampton and the Sport England Lottery funded programme - Club Matters. Each delegate will be able to attend both workshops which cover the subject areas of club performance, management, development, and funding.
The Borough's flagship leisure centre, Places Leisure Eastleigh, have supported the event by kindly being the sponsors for 2023.
The Council’s Cabinet Lead for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “Local sports providers and clubs are the backbone to both our health and social wellbeing. Supporting these community organisations is key during these challenging financial times and we must provide tools and networking events to ensure their future. I invite them to take us up on this new opportunity and take ideas away to improve their offer for their members and clients.”
