Eastleigh Platinum Jubilee Community Showcase a huge success!
Our Platinum Jubilee Community Showcase, that took place on Saturday 4 June, was a huge success as hundreds of people from across the Borough filled Leigh Road Recreation Ground.
Families enjoyed browsing over 30 stands that were in the park on the day offering; games, cakes, crafts and a Jubilee themed photobooth.
People brought along camping chairs and picnic blankets and soaked up the atmosphere and the sunshine whilst being entertained by choirs, brass bands and dance groups.
We joined with One Community and other charity and community groups to bring the day of festivities to the town centre and were really pleased with the fantastic turn out.
Councillor Adam Manning, the Mayor of Eastleigh, said: "What made the day really special to me, was the amount of people that came along and the wonderful sense of community and spirit of the people. They've wanted this sort of event for so long and it was great to see people coming together again."
An amazing team of volunteers helped the day run smoothly, with manning stalls, litter picking and directing people alongside our brilliant Street Scene Team who made sure the site was kept clean and tidy.
Volunteers handed out flags and everyone joined in waving the flags along to the 'Last Night of the Proms' style concert that closed the day.
We also hosted two brilliant evenings of live entertainment on Thursday and Friday from The Point, Eastleigh, before the Community Showcase on Saturday. Both evenings proved incredibly popular and we're really looking forward to our next weekend of live entertainment with Unwrapped taking place this Saturday and Sunday (11 & 12 June) in Eastleigh and Hedge End.
