Eastleigh Borough remembers

Services, parades and road closures across the Borough

The Borough is set to unite with the nation to honour those who have fallen in times of conflict. Services will be taking place throughout the Borough of Eastleigh at 11am on Sunday 10 November 2019 to remember those who gave their lives in two world wars and other conflicts.

The Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Darshan Mann, along with representatives of our twin towns of Villeneuve- Saint-Georges in France and Kornwestheim in Germany, will be attending the morning service at the War Memorial, Leigh Road Recreation Ground in Eastleigh; Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cynthia Garton, will be attending the morning service at St Edward's Church, Netley Abbey.

The Mayor, along with the representatives of our twin towns, will also be attending the service at the Military Cemetery, Royal Victoria Country Park at 3pm in the afternoon.

The Council will again be supporting the Royal British Legion’s call for the observance of the Two Minute Silence at 11am on Monday 11 November. The ceremony is open to all and will be hosted by the Mayor at the War Memorial in Leigh Road Recreation Ground, Eastleigh.

A number of road closures will be in force during the 11am Sunday services and parades across the Borough: 

Remembrance Services around Eastleigh Borough – Sunday 10 November

Botley – Parade from Botley Square at 10.45 followed by service at All Saints Church.

Chandler’s Ford – Service at St Boniface Church at 10.30am

Eastleigh – Service at Leigh Road Recreation Ground at 10.45am

Fair Oak & Horton Heath – Service at War Memorial, Fair Oak Square at 10.50am

Hamble-le-Rice - Service at St Andrews Church at 10am

Hedge End – Parade starts at 10.30am from the 2000 Centre, St Johns Road, Hedge End 

Netley – Parade from Royal Victoria Country Park at 10.10am followed by service at St Edward the Confessor Church.

Netley - Wreath laying ceremony in the Military Cemetery at the Royal Victoria Country Park at 3pm.  Please note there is no vehicular access to the Military Cemetery

West End - Service at St James’ Church at 10.15am followed by procession to War Memorial

Armistice Day Services - Monday 11 November 

10.30am for Services at 10.45am

Bishopstoke - War Memorial by the Bishopstoke Memorial Hall

Eastleigh – War Memorial in Leigh Road Recreation Ground

Road closures

Bishopstoke

Closed: West Drive (Scout Hut Junction with Spring Lane) Spring Lane (West Drive to Church Road) Church Road (Spring Lane to Longmead Ave)

10.15am to 10.30am - Scout Hut to Church

11.30-am to 11.45am - Church to Scout Hut  

Botley

Closed: High Street, from its junction with Mortimers Road to its junction with Winchester Street

From: 10.45am – 11.15am

Eastleigh

Closed: Mitchell Road, Wells Place (for their entire lengths). Other roads affected include:

Desborough Road, Leigh Road, A335 Romsey Road

From: One parade between 10.15am and 12.30pm as required – closures in place as parade passes

Fair Oak & Horton Heath

Closed: Fair Oak Road (including The Square) between its junctions with Botley Road and Summerlands Road; and B3354 Botley Road and Winchester Road between Mortimers Lane and its junction with Eastleigh Road. between 10.30am  and 11.30am as required –closures in place as parade passes

Hedge End

Closed: St John's Road, between its junctions with Bursledon Road and Alexandra Road

From: 10am to 12 noon

Netley Abbey

Closed: Victoria Road entire length from Grange Road to St Edward's Church

From: 10am to 10.40am

West End

Closed: High Street, West End from its junction with Lower New Road and Upper New Road to its junction with Moorgreen Road, West End Road is closed from High St to Moorhill Road and St James Road from High Street to Hope Road

From: 10.30am to 11.30am

Two other services are taking place without road closures at 

Chandler’s Ford – service at St Boniface Church, Hursley Road 

Netley Abbey - service at Military Cemetery, Royal Victoria Country Park at 3pm
