Drivers beware! Parking penalty text message scam
Don't share your financial details
The Council has had reports of customers receiving text messages related to fake penalty charge notices (PCNs) demanding payment.
Some of these messages appear to have come from Eastleigh Borough Council and carry the authority’s branding.
The messages often contain a link that directs people to a website where they can make payment, and some provide a contact phone number.
The Council’s Parking team want to remind motorists that we would never seek penalty charge payments in this manner. All Council reminders for outstanding parking fines are sent by post – so our advice is to simply delete the text and do not provide any of your financial details.
Anyone concerned should follow the advice from the British Parking Association on their website: www.britishparking.co.uk/Protect-yourself-from-fraud
