Demolition of former Budgen’s supermarket site gets underway
Structural demolition of the former Budgen’s supermarket site got underway on Monday 20 January. This stage of the demolition process followed on from the internal strip out that included the removal of asbestos in the building prior to the structural demolition of the site.
Public parking will continue to be available in part of the old car park during the works that are due to be completed by April 2020.
Cabinet Lead for Regeneration Cllr Ian Corben said, “The demolition of the site is another important step. However, this is a complex site that will require a comprehensive redevelopment plan that will take some time to sort out. We continue to work hard to ensure we get the right solution for the future of Hedge End town centre.”
