Council provides local non-profit making community groups with up to £1,000 grants
Community grants of up to £1,000 are being distributed to non-profit making community groups, voluntary organisations, trusts, friendly societies, social enterprises and community interest companies.
Priority is given to groups whose aims reflect our priorities of promoting health, prosperity, the environment, and community development involvement. They focus on groups that do more for less for example projects that help the community to save money or make their money go further.
One of the latest groups to benefit from a Council grant are Itchen South District Scout Canoe Centre. The money will enable the centre to continue to make paddlesport activities available to young people, without a need to increase our fees due to loss of income and continuing fixed costs during the pandemic.
Another local group that have received the grant is EBS Counselling. Their grant will be used to assist in contributions towards volunteer costs, room hire to enable face to face counselling and subsidising those that are unable to pay towards the room hire.
Grants can be used to purchase equipment of materials, to contribute towards running costs, funding specific projects and the development of the organisation.
