Council invests over £7.5 million in new community facilities across the borough
Over £7.5 million of investment is planned to be made in an exciting range of community projects and facilities across the Borough from funding that has come to the Council as a result of new homes being built, to continue to improve our communities.
Some of the major projects include;
£3 million for a new Community Sports Ground and full size floodlit artificial 3G pitch for Hedge End and Botley near Grange Park
£1.4 million for the new Arch Youth Theatre at Chandler’s Ford
£529,000 at the Memorial Hall and Glebe Meadow in Bishopstoke
£507,000 on a replacement for the Long Lane Pavilion in Bursledon
£300,000 for Eastleigh Town Centre
£165,000 towards a new community building for Allbrook Parish
£182,000 on improvements to Itchen Valley Country Park
£112, 000 for improvements at Hamble’s Mount Pleasant skate park and pavilion
£157,000 on the Scout Hut site at Fair Oak’s New Century Park
£100,000 on St Paul’s Church, Bishopstoke
£150,000 to create an improved skate park at Freespace, Eastleigh
£32,000 on new footpaths at Hiltingbury and Flexford
£97,000 for a new bus provision at North Stoneham Park
Over £750,000 will also be spent on children’s play with the provision of new and refurbished play areas across the Borough including Netley’s Station Road, Hedge End Way, Latitude, Heron Walk, Kingfisher Grange, Kestrel Park, Crowdhill, Pembers Hill, Cox Row, and Lawn Road.
Council Leader Keith House said, “Over £7.5 million marks a continued and significant investment in our communities across the Borough. It will provide new and improved facilities for the benefit of all local residents and our wider communities to enjoy.”
