Community Garden project work with Eastleigh Men’s Shed
Our Community Garden project has had a great response from the local community as residents joined together to co-design and create a garden space on the former multi-use games area behind the Salvation Army on Blenheim Road.
The project has been growing since the summer with the community working together to tidy the space and replant flowers and plants in the existing planting beds. We are now working with Eastleigh Men’s Shed to build new raised beds within the space which will continue into the spring of 2022.
On Saturday 13 November the community worked with Mens Shed on the first new planter for the site, which also included some welcome signage to name the space. People took part in painting the signage and adding new plants; Salvation Army provided refreshments, hot soup and a roll for the participants.
The next activity morning will take place on Saturday 11 December 10am – 12noon. This will be located on site and inside the Salvation Army building, where a workshop to make Christmas decorations for the garden or to take home will take place. There will also be mince pies, mulled fruit juice and Christmas carols.
All are welcome to join this free event, if you'd like to find out more or get involved please email [email protected]
