Community Frieze artwork unveiled at Boorley Green
A unique ‘Community Frieze’ artwork celebrating the people, places and experiences of Botley Parish residents has been unveiled at Boorley Green Community Centre by Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Richard Gomer.
Designed to capture what residents love most about living in our Parish, the initiative has brought together people of all ages through a year of creativity, conversation and collaboration.
Local artist Mark Howard Jones led the project to create a permanent piece of community art that reflected the character, identity and values of Botley Parish through the voices and contributions of local residents.
Members of the community were invited to share their ideas and add their own drawings to the artwork. A series of creative workshops were held with children attending the Holiday Activities and Food Programme Holiday Camp, members of Botley and Boorley Green Women's Institute, and participants from the Home Education Community.
The finished piece, installed in the foyer of the Community Centre now serves as a lasting celebration of local pride, community spirit and the people who call Botley Parish home.
The project was funded by developer’s contributions allocated by the HEWEB Local Area Committee.
