Claire brings Star Wars and Jurassic World magic to Father Christmas show
Puppetry director for Raymond Briggs' classic yuletide tale at The Berry Theatre
A Hampshire-based puppeteer and performer, whose work has been featured in the Star Wars movie franchise, Jurassic World and The Dark Crystal series, is bringing her magic to Eastleigh Borough’s big festive show this month.
Claire Roi Harvey performed as a puppeteer and is now a puppetry director for the much-loved Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas, playing at The Berry Theatre in Hedge End from this Saturday 9 December. Claire was an Associate Artist at The Berry Theatre’s sister venue, The Point Eastleigh in 2008, and now works in film, television, commercials and theatre alongside many brilliant creature and puppeteer teams bringing some incredible characters to life. Her workshop is in Eastleigh Borough.
Of Father Christmas, Claire says: “The show is such a little gem! Created by Pins & Needles for what was thought to be a short run, it has been so loved by audiences in London that it’s now been on at The Lyric Hammersmith for 10 years! And the design of the show is exactly like the original book by Raymond Briggs. It’s gentle, a bit silly and magic all at once, making it suitable for the whole family…and there’s a gorgeous moment in the middle of the show that’s not to be missed.”
Claire has two other shows programmed for The Point – the delightful, free-to-book, storytelling experience of Timothy the Yeti for small children, and Yule, an atmospheric show for a 14+ audience, performed using intricate shadow puppetry and a live percussive soundtrack.
