Christmas gifts for Women’s refuges and those not in their own homes
Women and children in the refuge and those not in their own homes have received Christmas presents thanks to the generosity and efforts of local communities and Eastleigh Borough Council staff following an appeal coordinated by the Council’s Housing team.
As well as staff from the agencies involved, the local community in Hedge End, users of Wessex House and Places Leisure Eastleigh have all played an important role in donating, collecting, and delivering the presents. Gifts including toys, stationary sets, boxes of chocolates, craft / activity sets, selection boxes and family games will help make this a special Christmas.
Cabinet Lead for Health Cllr Tonia Craig said, “The fantastic efforts of our staff together with support from the community and other agencies has been amazing and has made a real difference this Christmas for the women and children in the refuge together with those people not in their own home this Christmas. It has given a welcome Christmas boost to families who face an uncertain festive season.”
She added, “We have been overwhelmed with the generosity especially when so many are struggling themselves but still donate. Thanks to everyone who donated as the smiles on their faces when they received the hampers and presents was amazing and they were so excited and really blown away with the generosity of local people.”
