Business Grants come to a close
All of the available funding for businesses has now been distributed to businesses across the Borough.
The funding became available when the country was thrown into a national lockdown, with many businesses forced to temporarily close. The government was able to allocate money to Councils around the country and support the companies that were significantly impacted by the closures.
Grants were paid out to over 7,000 businesses in the Borough with the final amount we distributed totalling £33.3 million.
Our Economy team worked extremely hard to make sure that businesses in the Borough received the financial support that they were entitled to throughout the coronavirus pandemic, here are some of the businesses that our team helped;
Mat Playford - Earth Wind & Fire Farm:
"At Earth Wind & Fire Farms we grow peppers and chilli plants and during Covid restrictions we received a lot less business than we'd have liked.
The Support from Eastleigh Borough Council has been an incredibly rewarding process ,it has allowed my company to become net zero in energy usage and allowed us to increase our production by 500% ,it's changed our outlook from being worried about the future of the business to being very excited about the summer ahead and the next steps for the business."
DASIC Marine (Energy Grant):
“The Business Grant has helped us plan some much needed factory refurbishment to reduce on our soaring energy bills and lower our carbon footprint. Without the grant it would have been impossible for us to fund the improvements. Reducing overheads and increasing our green credentials are both vital initiatives for us to secure our future.”
Ainhoa Nicholl, Kidslingo:
"I lost 100% of my clients at a time in when I had managed to get the business to start making a profit. I could not go to any of the settings and didn't have an adequate laptop to bring my business online. Having access to the business grant enabled me to continue working as I could invest in a good laptop to move my lessons online. Due to the ages of the children, many were unsuitable for online lessons, but it meant I could keep some customers online and keep the name of Kidslingo present.
Without a doubt, without the grants, my business would not be operating currently. Thanks to them, I'm now teaching at three schools, two venues and two nurseries."
