Business Breakfast Briefing at Hamble Aerostructures
First Business Breakfast Briefing for over two years.
Our Business Breakfast took place this week (8 February) with a range of guest speakers from our business community.
Cllr Derek Pretty, Portfolio Lead for the Economy, introduced the event, which included a range of presentations with our Climate Change Manager, Andy Brennan, discussing the Council's commitment to climate change, followed by finance opportunities from Anna Herron, Project Officer, My Journey Workplaces - talking about funding for sustainable travel for staff and Matthew Pullinger, Senior Industry Liaison Officer, Greentech South discussing funding projects to support small/medium businesses in reducing carbon emissions.
There were also presentations from some of our Borough businesses that are already significantly reducing their carbon footprint through their work including Tuk Shop, Earth, Wind and Fire and KCC Packaging.
The final presentation came from Richard Armstrong, Export Finance Manager for Export opportunities Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
After the presentations the speakers were invited back onstage to engage in a Q & A session with the audience which went down well with the attendees.
We received some great feedback from some of the businesses that came along on the day;
"Thank you for the morning, I found it very useful, informative and have come away with a clear direction with certain projects."
"The sessions were highly informative and provided many good contacts that I will follow up for our own business."
Thank you so much for organising and inviting me to the Business Breakfast this morning. It was great to meet you as well as some of the other attendees – the content was definitely relevant and interesting for us here at the yard."
"It was good to meet and your team today and thank you for a very interesting morning."
