Blooming brilliant transformation in Eastleigh town centre
Natisha creates dazzling floral displays
A number of Eastleigh town centre planters have undergone a blooming brilliant transformation.
The Council’s Welcome Back Fund team has arranged for the planters at the edge of the pedestrianised section of Leigh Road to be filled by gardener Natisha Cadd from Nova’s Nursery (https://www.facebook.com/novasnursery). Natisha is a stallholder at the Council’s weekly Hedge End Village Market.
Natisha’s business, which is named after her late mother, flowered as a fresh start post recovery from an attempt on her own life after a series of traumatic events. Previously she worked with adults who were affected by brain injuries.
She said: “My mum loved butterflies. I started off by growing marigolds and the number of butterflies which appeared was incredible. In the beginning I had one greenhouse and now I have five polytunnels. This job is not something I ever thought I’d do but when I am working with plants, I can get lost in it.
“As I have been working on the planters, so many passers-by and members of the public have come up to me to ask about them. Local businesses including Domino’s and Poppins have come over to say how much they appreciate the effort. An 82 year-old gentleman bought me a cup of coffee; there’s a wonderful community in Eastleigh.”
