Appeal for personal protective equipment (PPE) for key workers
Crucial supplies needed for frontline staff
Can your business provide essential equipment to protect public sector workers dealing with the coronavirus crisis?
An appeal for crucial supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) has been launched in Eastleigh Borough as part of a county-wide initiative to support key workers.
Local councils, including Eastleigh, the emergency services and utility companies are coordinating the local response to COVID-19 across Hampshire in the Local Resilience Forum. As well as supporting our NHS health partners on the front line and managing the distribution emergency food and medicine parcels to the most vulnerable, the services also:
- Respond to police, fire and ambulance emergencies
- Maintain refuse collections
- Support homeless people and make visits to sheltered housing schemes
The key workers, who deliver all these services on a daily basis, need personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help ensure they stay fit and healthy and can carry out their duties.
Residents and businesses will have seen in the media that there is a national need for PPE to support these critical frontline services- and the Council is appealing to local businesses to donate any of the items in the following list:
- No-fluid repellent surgical gowns
- Re-usable surgical gowns
- Laboratory coats
- Long-sleeve patient gowns
- Industrial or other coveralls
- Sleeve covers
