Annual Referendum Notice – Verification Number
A referendum on whether a local authority should change to a different form of governance can be called by way of a petition. This must be signed by at least 5% of the electorate in the Council's Register of Electors. This figure is referred to as the Verification Number and is published in a Public Notice during February each year.
