There are two sizes of wheeled
bins available to residents, depending on the number of people
permanently living within the household.
140 litres bins are issued to families of 2 or less.
(You may have
additional recycling capacity if needed)
- 240 litre bins are issued to families of 3 or more.
(You may have
additional recycling capacity if needed)
If you qualify for different sized bins to those at your
property, we are happy to arrange an exchange for you. You
will need to complete an application application form and
include evidence of the number of people in your property (E.G.
child benefit / family tax credit). To request this application

here.
Clear Sacks
If you regularly have more recyclables that will fit into your
green bin, you can request some clear sacks from the Council free
of charge. Once filled, they can be left next to your bin and will
be collected by our operatives. Please DO NOT use
carrier bags or black sacks for this purpose as they will
NOT be collected. To request some
clear sacks please call 023 8068 8440.
Damaged or Stolen Bins
If you find your bin has been damaged or stolen, we can
arrange for a replacement bin to be issued to you.

Domestic bins that have not been emptied can be reported and
will be emptied as follows:
Depot Fault
If the bin was missed by the crew, we aim to empty the bin the
next working day.
Donation of Furniture
Is
there still life left in your furniture!?
If the furniture that you want to
dispose of is still in good condition there are charities that will
be willing to collect them in order for them to be donated to
people in need.
One of these
charities is SCRATCH (Southampton City and Region Action to

Collection of Furniture and Bulky

This service is for the removal
and disposal of household furniture, white goods and carpeting from
domestic premises.
- The minimum charge is £28.50 (inc. VAT).
This covers the
removal of up to 8 units
- e.g. settee = 3 units
- armchair = 2 units
- dining chair = 1 unit)
For others see below. Additional
units will be charged at £2.50 (inc. VAT).
If you are in receipt of either
Council Tax benefit or Housing benefit, you are entitled to half
price collections.
The collections take
place on Wednesdays in Botley,
Bishopstoke, Bursledon, Fair Oak, Hedge End, Horton Heath, Lowford,
Netley Abbey, Hamble-le-Rice and West End and
Thursdays in Eastleigh. Boyatt Wood and
Chandler's Ford.

Bulky Items List
- We are able to take a maximum of 8 units for the minimum price
of £28.50 (including VAT). Each unit thereafter will cost
£2.50 (inc VAT) per unit.
- Units are calculated as follows:
Small items not exceeding 0.2m3 =
1 unit
Medium items 0.2 to 0.75m3 = 2 units
Large items 0.7m3 = 3 units

Quoted Collections
(Collection of All Other
Items)

This service is for the removal
and disposal of anything that does not fall under the description
of household furniture etc. e.g. garden waste, bathroom suites,
garage clearances etc.
This is a quoted service, for
which the minimum charge is £28.50(inc. VAT).
An officer would attend the
premises in order to give the actual cost for the removal and
disposal.
This is done free of charge, with
no obligation.
Clinical Waste

We offer a collection service of
clinical waste, which is free to domestic residents. This
covers the collection of sharps boxes and waste that is considered
infectious or contagious.
To arrange a new collection, we
require a referral from the General Practitioner, District
Nurse or some other local health professional.
Collections take place as follows :

Assisted Lift Service (Wheeled
Bins)

Having
trouble with your bin?
Elderly, disabled or physically
unable residents who are unable to wheel their wheeled bin to the
edge of their property and no other member of the household can do
it, we are able to offer them the 'Assisted Lift
Service'.

An assisted lift sticker will be put on each bin and
the refuse crew advised that they should go into the property and
remove the bin from where it is stored and return it to the same
location once they have emptied it.
(This service is also available
to those residents who have opted to remain on sack
collections).
