Children and Young people

In October 1998 the Council agreed its first strategy for young people up to the age of 24 years.  As part of that strategy, almost £70,000 was set aside for young people.  This was used to support various initiatives including expanding the youth theatre, the funding of various sports and fitness activities, supporting the Millennium dance festival and the part-funding of youth workers.

Since the first council strategy, we have continued to respond to the needs of young people in the Borough. The majority of the work has been in partnership with other agencies who have contact with young people in Eastleigh.

A central element of this approach is the involvement of young people themselves in evaluating our progress in meeting the objectives that have been set.
