Coronavirus information - waste and recycling services
Please check this information regularly for updates to services
All waste and recycling services are currently operating as normal. However, we are realistic that Coronavirus is likely to affect many people, including our staff.
We’ll update our website and social media channels if there are any disruption to services – please check these regularly and would appreciate you help sharing this information with friends of relatives not online.
We understand how important it is to you that household bin collections continue, and we have a dedicated team who are doing all they can to continue this service, including diverting staff from other operations to support it.
If and when a reduction in the workforce means all waste services cannot be provided, black bin and clinical waste collections will be prioritised.
Help us protect our staff so we can continue our service for you
Please help us continue our service and protect our staff by following the guidance below from households displaying coronavirus symptoms:
- any personal waste (such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths) from households should be be stored securely within rubbish bags
- these bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste
- this should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your black bin
All other household waste can be disposed of as normal.
