To celebrate Valentine's Day, Itchen Valley Country Park are helping the National Fostering Agency launch their #BeMyRock stone painting and treasure hunting initiative - encouraging as many people as possible to get painting, hiding and seeking pebble treasures to keep, gift or re-hide.
By painting, hiding, sharing and finding rocks and stones with the #BeMyRock tag on the back, you will be helping to raise awareness of the need in the UK for an increasing number of reliable fostering caring 'rocks' for children.
Join us for this drop-in painting opportunity, where there'll be plenty of inspiration and help on hand. Once you've painted your own stone, why not see if you can find one of the hidden #BeMyRock's dotted around the park? There is no charge for stone painting, although voluntary donations to our partner charity, Place2Be - who provide emotional and therapeutic services in primary and secondary schools - are welcome.
Painted pebbles can be kept, gifted to someone you love or hidden. Either way we're sure you'll put a smile on someone's face by joining in the fun. All we ask is that you tag your stones, and upload a picture with location details to the #BeMyRock group, just to help us get the ball (or rock!) rolling :-)
One of the National Fostering Agency's Carer Engagement Officers and Supervising Social Workers will be there, and will be delighted to chat to you about fostering if this is something you are interested in.
