A group of travellers moved onto Council owned land at Eastleigh on Wednesday 19 April. Currently there are around four vehicles on site.

Council officers from the Environmental Health team have already visited the encampment and requested that the travellers leave the site.  They are continuing to monitor the situation.

The Council is liaising with the Police and Hampshire County Council’s Gypsy Liaison Officer. A welfare assessment will be undertaken by Hampshire County Council and the Council is following its normal procedure for dealing with unauthorised encampments.

As soon as the travellers leave the site the Council has arranged for protection measures to be undertaken for this land on Passfield Avenue.
