Summer of sport

Throughout August, adults (aged 16+) across the borough will again be encouraged to try a huge range of sport taster sessions as part of Eastleigh Borough Council’s Summer of Sport scheme.

Following the success of last year’s scheme, Summer of Sport activities are tailored for beginners and those people looking to get that little bit more healthier and active. Summer of Sport offers a friendly and welcoming environment and caters for all abilities, so there really is something for everyone.  Thanks to funding from Sport England, all sessions will be available for just a £2 booking fee per person per session.

Cabinet Lead for Wellbeing, Cllr Alan Broadhurst said, “This is a great scheme to encourage local adults to try and enjoy a new sport and activity. Summer of Sport is a great way to try something new without any commitment, whilst getting healthy and active.  All sessions are run by the best local providers, and are ideal introductory sessions - so there has never been a better reason to try something new. I encourage local people to sign up and have a go at these great activities.”

Activities on offer this summer include Archery, Badminton, Canoeing, Cycling, Golf, Netball, Sailing, Tennis, Softball, Weightlifting and more!  Following the taster sessions, there will also be a series of beginner courses starting throughout September, so participants can continue to take part in an activity they have enjoyed. Courses on offer include Couch to 5k (which encourages inactive people to take up running), Return to Tennis, Learn to Sail and more.

Bookings go live on Tuesday 4th July. To view our full brochure of activities and to book, visit www.eastleigh.gov.uk/summerofsport
