Itchen Valley Country Park has once again been voted among the best green spaces in the UK.
The 440-acres of beautiful water meadows, woodland and meadows has received the prestigious Green Flag Award for the ninth year running.
The award, now in its 21st year, is a quality mark for a green space and underlines the fact that a park is run to the highest possible standards, and is well maintained with excellent facilities.
Itchen Valley Country Park offers a Visitor Centre, with nature-based displays, and a wealth of waymarked trails. The park also a café, outdoor picnic tables, a shop and two large, permanent barbecue sites.
As well as setting a benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom, the Green Flag Award is very much a tribute to the hard work and expertise of the team responsible for maintaining a wonderful green space for the people of Borough and visitors from further afield.
The scheme is managed under license from the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) by Keep Britain Tidy who administer the scheme in England.
