The Council is pleased that a planned appeal by Sheet Anchor Properties Ltd against a decision by the Council to refuse development on land east of Grange Road, Netley Abbey has now been withdrawn.

Bursledon, Hamble & Hound Local Area Committee had originally refused a planning application for 230 homes on the site. The applicant, Sheet Anchor Properties Ltd, chose to appeal the committee’s decision and this was due to be heard by an independent Planning Inspector.

Council Leader Keith House said, “This is great news for local people that the appeal has been withdrawn. This decision further recognises our policy to protect our countryside gaps  and also acknowledges that the Council has achieved a full five-year supply of new homes on other sites."

He added, “The Council had always been against this application as it was completely the wrong location for new homes as the site would destroy the green local gap between  Netley and Bursledon.  The Council is committed to delivering the homes that are needed for the future but they have to be in the right places – and this was not one of them.”
