Mayor gets behind ‘Eastleigh Spitfires’

Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Des Scott is wishing the town’s non-league football club the very best of luck when they meet Championship side Brentford in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend.

The match, at Brentford’s Griffin Park stadium kicks off on Saturday 7th January at 3pm and around 1500 Eastleigh supporters will be following their team up to London for the match.

Councillor Scott, who is a regular supporter of the team and honorary member of the Spitfires Supporters Club said: “It is a great achievement for the Spitfires to again make the third round of the FA Cup and I am sure it will be a great occasion against a Championship side.”

He added, “The FA Cup is watched all over the world and the club’s success has really put the spotlight on Eastleigh. I’m sure it will be a great occasion and let’s hope it’s a good result for the ‘Spitfires’.”

There are still a couple of hundred tickets available for Eastleigh supporters that can be purchased at the ‘away’ turnstiles on the day.
