Hundreds of parents have been busily signing their children, aged between 8 and 16 years, onto the scheme that provides the chance to try an exciting range of sports and activities this summer as part of the Council's hugely popular Park Sport programme. Golf has already completely booked and some sessions of other activities including sailing, fishing, tennis and cycling are also fully booked.
Now in its 13th year, Park Sport 2017 will take place at over 25 local parks and community facilities across the Borough. Over 300 bookable sessions will be provided in this year’s scheme in sports including Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Cycling, Dance, Fishing, Football, Golf, Martial Arts, Netball, Sailing and Yoga. And this year, because of growing demand, more tennis sessions will be available thanks to support from the Lawn Tennis Association.
The scheme, that provides heavily subsidised activities at just £1 per session, is made possible thanks to ongoing support from VIVID Homes (formerly First Wessex), Eastleigh Borough Local Area Committees, and Parish and Town Councils.
Cabinet Lead for Leisure, Councillor Alan Broadhurst, said: ”It’s fantastic to see so many local parents booking their children. It was great to see so many young people here performing so many exciting moves as part of the skate jam and I am delighted to launch this years exciting Park Sport scheme”.
The scheme, organised by Eastleigh Borough Council and sponsored by VIVID (formerly First Wessex).
