Bookings for Eastleigh’s Summer of Sport are set to ‘go live’ on Tuesday 12 July as the popular programme of ‘taster session’ sporting activities for adults is set to return for its second year.

Organised by Eastleigh Borough Council’s SportWorks team, this exciting scheme provides adults (aged 16+) across the borough with the chance to enjoy a huge range of sports and physical activities.

Taster session activities on offer include sailing, tennis, baseball, archery, swimming, squash, fitness classes and more. All sports and activities are on offer at just £2 booking fee per session thanks to funding from Sport England. With the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio just around the corner, the Summer of Sport will be a great time for residents to try a huge range of sport and physical activities and get into the spirit of the Games.

All sessions will be run by the best local sport providers and are tailored as introductory taster sessions, giving you the chance to try something new and get fit and active along the way. There are also a series of beginner courses in September for those who have enjoyed their taster sessions and want to participate further.

Cabinet Lead for Leisure Cllr Alan Broadhurst said, “This scheme provides the chance for everyone to get active and we are delighted to offer a diverse programme of activities for adults in the borough to enjoy. It’s never too late to take up something new, so I encourage people to make the most of this amazing opportunity.”

The Summer of Sport will run for four weeks from Monday 1 August to 26 August and if you are interested in the programme, a full list of activities and details of how to book are available on www.eastleigh.gov.uk/summerofsport
