The popular paddling pool in Eastleigh’s Fleming Park, that was vandalised last weekend, has been speedily repaired and has re-opened today (Friday 24 June).

Council officers and Fleming Park Leisure Centre operators, Places for People, who maintain the attraction, had originally thought that repairs could take up to a fortnight.

The pool, which can be found just off Passfield Avenue, near the play area, is free to use. It will be open as usual from 10am to 7pm every day until the first weekend of September.

Chair of the Eastleigh Local Area Committee, Councillor Paul Bicknell, said: “We are delighted that the much-loved paddling pool, which is enjoyed by so many families, has re-opened. It is a tribute to the skill and hard work of Places for People’s technical team that it has happened so quickly – and on such a fine day!”

Anyone with information about the vandalism is urged to contact the police.

* Meanwhile the children’s roundabout in the Leigh Road Recreation Ground has also been repaired and is spinning as normal.
