More children and adults than ever before are set to experience a range of sporting and physical activity opportunities with the start of this year's Park Sport and Summer of Sport schemes.
The borough is getting active this summer as a record number of over 5000 sessions have already been booked on the schemes that are set to start on Monday 27 July.
Now in its eleventh year, Park Sport offers a range of sessions across 18 sports, including basketball, cricket, dance, sailing, volleyball and tennis, together with skate jams and free swimming sessions for children between 8-16 years old.
This year hundreds of adults have also signed up to the Council’s first Summer of Sport programme for people aged from 16 years and over. Supported by Sport England, the scheme aims to get adults fit and active with a range of activities from boxing to bowls, golf to volleyball, netball to yoga, and sailing to strictly come dancing. All sessions are just £2.
Cabinet Lead for Leisure Cllr Alan Broadhurst said ”It’s been a fabulous response with nearly 5000 sessions booked already. We are delighted to be able to offer a more diverse programme of activities for children and adults in the borough to enjoy. It’s never too late to take up something new, so I encourage people to make the most of this amazing opportunity.”
Park Sport and Summer of Sport runs for five weeks from 27 July to 30 August – bookings are now open.
Bookings can be made online at 'My Eastleigh' and there are hundreds of sessions to choose from.
Organised by Eastleigh Borough Council, Park Sport is sponsored by CooperVision and First Wessex, and Sport England are supporting Summer of Sport.
