Parkland Fleming Park

Work on the new 'all weather' trail on the former golf course site at Fleming Park has begun.

The £460,000 project will provide a range of improvements to increase access to this popular ‘Parkland’ area throughout the year.

The first phase of the work includes the creation of a mile long waymarked accessible trail, resurfacing of the cycle path alongside the Monks Brook, links to the new Pavilion on the Park extension (due to open in September) and a new shared cycle/footpath from the Velmore Estate to Dovedale and Nightingale School. This phase of the work is planned to be completed by the end of October before the winter weather.

The work will be undertaken in three sections:

  1. Circular trail August - September
  2. Somerset Crescent to Dovedale in October
  3. Resurfacing existing cyclepath by late October

As sections are completed they will be opened up for use by the public.

The project was approved by the Eastleigh Local Area Committee and funded from developers’ contributions. The work will be carried out by Colas Limited who will be working through the scheme in phases.
