Eastleigh’s Mayor, Councillor Jane Welsh, is wishing the town’s football club the very best of luck when they meet Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup tomorrow.

The match, at the Silverlake Stadium, will attract a record crowd of more than 5,000 and has been dubbed the most important in the club’s history.

Councillor Welsh said:  “It is a great achievement for the Spitfires to make the third round of the FA Cup as the last remaining non-league team in the competition.

“The FA Cup is watched all over the world and the club’s success has really put the international spotlight on Eastleigh. We look forward to welcoming the Bolton Wanderers team and supporters to the town.

“I know my fellow borough residents are hugely proud that Eastleigh FC have made it this far – and confident that they will progress to the next round!”
