Borough prepares to remember

Services will be taking place throughout the Borough of Eastleigh on Sunday 8 November to remember those who gave their lives in two world wars and other conflicts across the world.

Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Jane Welsh will be attending the morning service at the War Memorial, Leigh Road Recreation Ground whilst Deputy Mayor Des Scott and Past Mayor John Caldwell will be attending morning services at Netley Abbey and Chandler’s Ford respectively.

The Mayor will also be attending the service at the Military Cemetery, Royal Victoria Country Park in the afternoon. Deputy Mayor Cllr Des Scott will also be attending the Armistice Day ceremony marking the two minute silence on Wednesday 11 November at the War Memorial in Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

A number of road closures will be in force during services and parades across the borough

Botley

Closed: High Street, from its junction with Holmesland Lane to its junction with Winchester Street From: 10:45am – 11am

Eastleigh

Closed: Mitchell Road, Wells Place (for their entire lengths) Other roads affected include Desborough Road, Leigh Road, A335 Romsey Road From: One parade between 9am and 12 noon as required – closures in place as parade passes

Fair Oak

Closed: Fair Oak Road (including The Square) between its junctions with Botley Road and Summerlands Road; and B3354 Botley Road and Winchester Road between Mortimers Lane and its junction with Eastleigh Road. From: two parades between 10am and 12 noon as required –closures in place as parade passes

Hedge End

Closed: St Johns Road, between its junctions with Bursledon Road and Foord Road From: 10am to 12 noon Netley Abbey Closed: Victoria Road entire length to Grange Road to St Edwards Church From: 10am to 12 noon

West End

Closed: High Street, West End from its junction with Lower New Road and Upper New Road to its junction with Moorgreen Road, West End Road from its junction with High Street to its junction with Elizabeth Close and St James Road from its junction with High Street to its junction with Woodlea Gardens From: 10.30am to 11.30am

Bishopstoke

Closed: West Drive (Scout Hut Junction with Spring Lane) Spring Lane (West Drive to Church Road) Church Road (Spring Lane to Longmead Ave) 10.15 to 10.30, Scout Hut to Church 11.30-11.45 Church to Scout Hut Two other services are taking place without road closures at Chandler’s Ford – service at St Boniface Church, Hursley Road Netley Abbey - service at Military Cemetery, Royal Victoria Country Park at 3pm
