Fairtrade is a simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love
Eastleigh Borough was officially declared a Fairtrade Borough on 7 May 2015, thanks to the hard work of the volunteers for the Fairtrade in Eastleigh Borough campaign.
The Fairtrade mark is internationally recognised as giving vital support for farmers in developing countries that are now selling their products on Fairtrade terms, bringing them a stable income, and the chance to trade their way out of poverty. To achieve and retain a Fairtrade mark the companies, farmers and workers who grow the food we love must meet a range of social, economic and environmental standards. There is lots of useful information on the Fairtrade website
The Fairtrade group is still active, promoting the campaign throughout the year and also providing free resources for communities and schools. If you want to be part of the group email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
