Strategic Land Availability Assessment

The Strategic Land Availability Assessment (SLAA) forms an important part of the 'evidence' base for the Council’s emerging Local Plan. The SLAA identifies the theoretical potential for land to be developed to meet the future development needs of the Borough. A robust evidence base to inform future decisions on how to provide and manage this development will ensure that emerging policy documents are found ‘sound’ by government inspectors.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s SLAA includes the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) required in the National Planning Policy Framework but will also look at the potential for land to be used for other uses.
