Bay Leaves Larder

During lockdowns, Bay Leaves Larder deli and coffee shop in Hiltingbury Road has continued to serve its local customers, using the closed café space to prepare special treat and afternoon tea boxes for click and collect. Owner Sarah has spent the last 13 years working to bring the best of the county’s food and drink – currently over 40 Hampshire suppliers, including Chandler’s Ford’s Ahmad Tea and a range of local gins – to her community, alongside homemade smoothies, hot drinks, cakes and fudge. The business has added an environmentally-friendly refill station for cleaning products and it’s already proving popular.

Sarah said: “I always wanted to set up a business like this in my local community and pre-lockdowns, customers travelled from Romsey and Winchester to visit us. We can be very busy, particularly at weekends – we often sell more than 60 Uptons of Bassett sausage rolls on a Saturday!”
