The Council is pleased to be supporting the Eastleigh Mela as it celebrates its fourteenth anniversary and this year, former Hampshire and England cricketer David Gower is guest of honour at the event .
The popular day-long celebration of all the Borough’s cultures takes place in Eastleigh town centre on Leigh Road recreation ground and Market Place Precinct from 11am – 6pm on Sunday 21 July.
The Mela is a truly community event, with participants and performers from a range of diverse backgrounds providing a fabulous display of sound and colour featuring traditional music, dance, culture and food.
Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Darshan Mann, “The Mela continues to be a much-loved community event as it celebrates our ‘Cultural Fusion’. We are again happy to support this great community event.”
He added "The Mela is a feel-good event and has become a regular fixture in the calendar and has grown in size over the years. The event promotes community integration and harmony by celebrating Eastleigh’s rich heritage and communities.”
The free event is organised by the Eastleigh Asian Welfare & Cultural Association and Unity 101 radio, working with the Borough Council.
