Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, this year's Mental Health Awareness Week (14-20 May) is focusing on stress.
Research has shown that two thirds of us experience a mental health problem in our lifetimes, and stress is a key factor.
By tackling stress, we can go a long way to tackle mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, and, in some instances, self-harm and suicide. We will look at how we can tackle stress and help improve our mental health.
Last year, the Council joined over 480 organisations nationally to sign the Time to Change Employer's Pledge to improve attitudes towards mental health and tackle discrimination. We also developed an action plan which includes training for staff and managers, and information about sources of support and activities to promote good mental health.
