Thousands of sessions have been snapped up for the Council’s popular Park Sport scheme with around 75% of spaces already booked for the scheme that provides local children with the experience a range of summer sporting and physical activity opportunities.
The borough’s youngsters will be getting active this summer as around 2800 sessions have been booked on the activities that are set to start on Monday 30 July.
Now in its twelfth year, Park Sport offers a sessions across 13 sports and activities although many are now fully booked including, Basketball at The Hub, Cycling at Fryern Recreation Ground, Fishing, Golf, Sailing, Football at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground, Beginners Skateboard at Knowle Park.
There are a few spaces left for the skateboard coaching at Bursledon (Pilands Wood) as well as Lapstone Playing Fields, Horton Heath. There are still spaces on basketball, cricket, dance, football, netball, advanced skateboard coaching and tennis.
Cabinet Lead for Health Cllr Tonia Craig said, “It’s been a fabulous response with nearly 2800 sessions booked already. We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting programme of activities for children in the borough to enjoy. I encourage people to make the most of this amazing opportunity.”
