This January they are helping resident’s to turn their New Year’s Resolutions into a reality with a series of subsidised beginner sport and fitness courses.
The New Year New You courses are aimed at beginners and people of all abilities and fitness levels, no matter your starting point. The majority of courses will take place at the brand new Places Leisure Eastleigh and give the community the chance to access this fantastic facility.
Courses on offer include Back to Netball, Cardio Tennis, Couch to 5k, Fit Camp, Group Gym, Spinning, Swim 4 Health, Walking Football, Yoga and more. These will be delivered by friendly instructors who will keep you motivated and encourage you to go at your own pace.
Cabinet Lead for Leisure Cllr Alan Broadhurst said, “The New Year is a great time for local people to take up new forms of exercise and activities to help them improve their health and fitness. These courses are a great way to introduce yourself to a new activity and I encourage local people to sign up and work towards a new you!”
SportWorks has helped hundreds of people to become more active including Christine from Eastleigh. Christine completed an 8 week beginner Olympic Weightlifting course in January 2017 and 12 months on she is still lifting; “My course leader made learning fun. She had an excellent way of teaching and I really felt progress and pride when I got my moves right. I now work out at least three times a week and it has helped massively with my anxiety. This programme showed me something I now love.”
Follow in Christine’s footsteps and make exercise part of your weekly routine in 2018.
