New Year Boost is back to kick-start your health for 2023
Give yourself the boost you need with local providers

The Council launches its annual New Year Boost programme to help residents in the Borough to boost their health at the start of 2023. Activities are aimed at adults (16 years plus) who are currently doing little to no exercise.
Local providers and venues have been approached by the Council’s SportWorks team to create a menu of activities to help boost what’s on offer to get more adults moving more for New Year 2023.
Residents can choose from beginner courses and options in three levels, depending on their needs and starting point. They start with helping to get you moving with support or self-led, group activities at more of a leisurely pace, or options to push yourself and get the heart pumping.
January/February is a great time to kick-start healthy habits and sometimes it can be difficult to know where to look or what is on offer, so this campaign provides a one-stop-shop of different activities - showcasing the variety and quality of activity providers and venues in the local area.
There are free options, pay as you go, block course bookings and some include exclusive New Year Boost discounts to support all budgets.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Tonia Craig, said: “Our successful annual New Year physical activity programme has been boosting residents after the festive holiday for many years. The last two campaigns have focussed on the amazing local providers and venues we have in the Borough and supporting the local leisure economy. We are pleased to provide options for everyone, despite challenges the cost-of-living crisis continues to bring, support residents of all beginner levels of fitness, and thank all partners participating this year.”
