Local youth groups benefit from grants from Council’s Local Area Committee

Local youth groups and organisations have benefitted from £4,000 of community grants given out by Hedge End, West End & Botley (HEWEB) Local Area Committee (LAC).
Hedge End, West End and Botley (HEWEB) Youth Council were involved in the decision making process with Councillors invited to endorse the recommendations of this year’s Youth Grants Panel. The grants are given out to groups to help recognise and celebrate the breadth of community work being undertaken in the local area. In particular, the grants will enable healthier lifestyles and wellbeing for local young people through the provision of targeted activities and services.
The well established annual community grants presentation was held at the Hedge End 2000 Centre and provided an opportunity to showcase many of the vital community services provided by voluntary and not for profit youth organisations in the HEWEB area
Fourteen grants ranging from £200 up to the full grant of £500 were given out to the local groups and organisations including Freegrounds Junior School, local Cadet and Scout groups and young carers.
Chair of Hedge West End & Botley LAC Councillor Cynthia Garton commented "It was great to present these grants to local youth groups. The Local Area Committee recognises this invaluable work and councillors are pleased to be able to make these grants. I would also encourage all community groups across our area to apply next year!"
