Local residents were recently invited to attend a public consultation about the Lawn Road playground improvement project. At the meeting residents were able to voice their opinions on what should feature in the new recreational area.
Boyatt Wood Community Trust and Eastleigh Borough Council hosted a session to discuss ideas for the refurbishment of the Lawn Road recreation play area on Thursday 7 November.
Around a hundred residents of all ages attended the event which was held at St Peter’s church.
The Council will be working together with the Boyatt Wood Community Trust and local residents to address the issues that were raised in the discussion and develop the designs further.
Some of the suggestions that were put forward at the meeting were dismissed due to varying factors; for example a popular idea was the installation of a zip wire but it was considered to be too noisy for this area. People also recommended a rock climbing wall and a pirate ship were included in the final plan but were refused due to being too costly.
A wobbly bridge, slide and shaded area were among the items to be included in the transformation, whilst flip bars and a trampoline were to be considered if there was sufficient funding during the project.
