Housing scheme shortlisted for national award

The new development of 94 new homes at Leah Gardens, Woodside Avenue has been shortlisted for a national housing award.
The scheme, that was jointly developed by Eastleigh Borough Council and VIVID through their Aspect Partnership, has been shortlisted in the Inside Housing Development Awards 2019 in the ‘Best build for rent development’ category. The awards ceremony is on 27 November.
All the homes were provided for rent with a mix of 36 low cost affordable homes and 58 homes for market rent. The homes range from one and two bedroom flats and two to four bedroom houses.
Council Leader Cllr Keith House said, “It’s great news that the Leah Gardens development has been recognised nationally. Our goal is to build new communities with quality housing and well-designed public open spaces where people can feel safe, thrive and prosper. This scheme demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality affordable homes for the people of Eastleigh. By offering a choice of housing types in this case homes for affordable rent and market rent we are providing real solutions to ensure our residents have the opportunity to have a place to call home - whatever their financial situation.”.
This is the first development to be completed by the Aspect Partnership. Aspect Building Communities is an exciting partnership which includes Eastleigh Borough Council and VIVID. The new company works with a number of partners to help enable housing developments across the Borough to meet local housing needs and ensure we get the sort of development that is best for the borough. It also provides ground breaking ways to help local people including lifetime market-rent tenancies and ‘Rent to Own’ schemes.
