A new haul road to remove works lorries and help ease traffic on Hamble Lane has been opened.
The haul road runs from Bursledon Road to the Taylor Wimpey site on Hamble Lane and will be used by all construction traffic as access to the site from Hamble Lane is now blocked.
Part of the development of 200 new homes and country park on the former Bursledon Car Boot site will also include a new road for the new housing estate that will run from Bursledon Road and also help to ease congestion on Hamble Lane as current access will be closed on completion of the new road. .
Leader of the Council, Cllr Keith House and portfolio lead for Housing and Development says, “We have taken a proactive approach in purchasing the land of the former car boot site as we are committed to delivering homes for local people, but this needs to be done responsibly and with the needs of the local area in mind. The haul road and subsequently a new road into the estate from Bursledon Road reinforces our commitment to tackling congestion on Hamble Lane.”
