Grass Cutting across the Borough
Following a cold and wet May followed by warmer weather in June, conditions have been ideal for significant plant growth and we have seen grass undergo a growth spurt over the last two weeks as air and ground temperatures rise.
The colder conditions during May prevented some areas being mown and we also reduced cutting to help encourage growth of wildflowers and promote greater biodiversity. We did this on some areas throughout the borough with mixed feedback as some residents would prefer to see the grass cut and others prefer us to not cut it for the benefit of plants and animals.
Our staff are now working hard to cut the grass across the borough, however, it will take a couple of weeks for our staff to completely catch up, after which, people will see the areas return to the previous standards.
