The Council is supporting a scheme to encourage local people to give their unwanted furniture to charity rather than just dispose of it.
Before phoning the council to get rid of their unwanted furniture residents are being encouraged to give a charity a call first. It’s free, quick and convenient and can make a real difference to people in need.
Before calling residents should make sure;
- it has a fire label attached if its upholstered
- it is in good saleable condition with no rips, tears, missing pieces or large scratches
- any veneered furniture is intact with no wood showing through the veneer
Cabinet Lead for Environment Cllr Rupert Kyrle said, “This is a great way for residents to ensure their old furniture can go to help someone else in need. I would encourage our residents to take advantage of this great scheme.”
