There’s another great reason to shop in Eastleigh town centre next month, with the start of a weekly car boot sale.
From Saturday 17 March, the car boot sale will be held in the car park next to Leisure Bingo and out into the Market Place precinct. It will be held every week – unless there is a major event in the town centre – and up to 70 vehicles can take part.
The car boot sale runs from 9am to 1pm and sellers will be asked to arrive from 8am. It is competitively priced at £10 for a small or medium car and £15 for a large car, van, or car with a trailer. Hire of tables is £5. Entry for buyers is free.
The event will be run under the guidelines of the Real Deal Charter, a partnership between the Council and Trading Standards, to prevent fake, illicit and potentially dangerous goods being sold to shoppers.
Volunteers from the One Community organisation will help with running the event – and will use the opportunity to raise money for local charities.
Councillor Wayne Irish, Chair of the Eastleigh Local Area Committee, said: “The car boot sale takes its place alongside the Bert & Gert’s arts and crafts market and the established market, as well as other events, to make Eastleigh town centre an even more attractive retail destination. It also reflects our commitment to encouraging people to re-use and recycle, rather than always buy new.”
