Bin dates are changing next week
New bin collection dates now available online

From 1 March, the regular bin days of thousands of Eastleigh Borough residents will be changing to allow for fortnightly glass and battery recycling collections and more efficient collection routes.
The journeys made by bin lorries every morning, up and down the Borough, will shift to a more ‘zonal’ approach. This should make the service more efficient and reliable.
Collection day changes
For residents, that means they are likely to see a change in the day their bins are collected. We are writing to residents who are affected by this and issuing them with a printout of their bin calendar to put on their fridge.
Residents can now get printable calendar for their property, featuring their new collection dates.
Fortnightly glass collections
The change also means fortnightly glass and battery collections, which were trialed last year, will be extended and rolled out to every house in the Borough. From 1 March, black glass boxes will be collected on the same day as green recycling bins. Glass may be collected by a separate vehicle, at a different time of day to wheeled bins, though still on the same day.
If you do not have a glass box, you can order one online.
Food waste collections
Food waste is collected every week on the same day as wheeled bin collections. Again, it is collected separately and so may be collected earlier or later in the day than your wheeled bin.
If you do not have one you can order a kitchen caddy or food waste bin.
Garden waste collections
There will be no change to garden waste collection dates, but this is something the council will review in due course.
Collection delays during the change over
For some residents, their new collection day may mean there is a three-week gap between black bin collections. In this instance, will we arrange an extra collection alongside your recycling bin during the last week of February. We will write to affected residents nearer the time to inform them of this additional collection, as it won’t appear on their online calendar or on bin reminder emails.
For some, there may be a short delay to glass and recycling collections. We kindly ask for your patience whilst the new collection service gets fully established and apologise if you have to wait longer than usual on this occasion.
Keeping up to date
Residents can easily keep on top of their bin collections by signing up to MyEastleigh. There, they can choose to receive an email reminder to put their bin out.
