Urban/Landscape Design Officers

We are looking for 2 Landscape/Urban Designer Officers to join our busy Housing & Development team.
Suitable candidates will have experience in providing an urban and rural design service to ensure high quality design in all new developments through negotiation with all stakeholders.
You should be willing to engage with our culture of dedication to achieving the highest possible design outcomes, in a friendly, flexible, supportive and hard working environment.
You will be accountable for a range of interesting and challenging work, liaising with external agencies and partners and working as a representative of the Council on development projects, reviewing policies and procedures within the specialist area. You will be required to advise and inform on landscape and/or urban design, new developments and project development as well as acting as expert witness where necessary. You must possess good knowledge of legislation and statutory responsibilities and experience of translating this to practice.
You will need to be able to lead on your own implementation projects for landscape and/or public art. In addition, you will also be required to prepare and present reports to Cabinet, Council committees and other internal/external meetings.
Applicants will need to possess an Honours or Postgraduate degree in Landscape or urban design. Landscape architects should be Chartered or be working towards becoming a member of the Landscape Institute or have equivalent demonstrable experience. You must be of smart appearance, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience of dealing with developers, other professionals, Councillors and members of the public in person and on the telephone. You will also be required to demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm, even when the pressure of workload is high.
Successful applicants will be appointed at a level dependent on their level of knowledge and experience.
