The Local Response Officer is responsible for carrying out a wide range of inspection and enforcement activities across the borough in accordance with statutory and regulatory provisions such as traffic management, highways, licensing, planning, environment management, council tax, new and empty home inspections, civil enforcement and animal welfare.

Working with other teams across the council, members, agencies and the wider community, officers will deal with issues as they arise as well as gather and record  information, place orders, complete applications, undertake site visits / inspections and carry out some investigations and enforcement as directed using a handheld device or a laptop computer.

The Local Response Officer may often be the first point of contact for a resident or a business; therefore, we are looking for candidates with excellent customer focus and communication skills together with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.  

You must also be proactive, professional and highly motivated to deliver results. Candidates must be able to develop a solid understanding of statutory and regulatory processes relating to the work they will undertake.

Full and on-going training and support will be given to ensure confidence and ability to cover the full requirements of the role. A full driving licence and use of a car is essential as is the ability to be comfortable whilst working with animal welfare issues.
